Science Fair Projects will be worked on Wednesday again this week. Bring website address, library books or any materials you need to work on in class.
Since I am not sending any or very little homework home this week due to our ISAT testing it would be a good idea to begin science fair projects.
I have sent home Science Fair project information with all students. I have informed the students that we will be spending some of our class science time on these projects. The first day they will be working on the projects is Monday, March9th. They will need any materials or books for the project on that day. If they need to go to the library to get books or if they need to print something from the internet then they will need to do so before Monday. If there are students that come unprepared then they will be given work that will need to be completed during this time. Since we will be doing science fair work on Monday the students need to have their idea already in place by this day. They will not be able to change their minds after this point. Please be sure they have a good, solid science fair project idea.
Clissold School will be holding its Science Fair on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. As explained, students in grade 5 will have the option of completing individual or partner projects. If working with a partner, it can only be in pairs. This is a MANDATORY Project!
Your project should include the scientific method: Purpose, Hypothesis, Materials, Procedure, Results and Conclusions) and visual aids as well. Science Fair project ideas are attached on the handout entitled "Ideas to Get Your Thinking Started."
Additionally, all students need to have their project ideas and partners to me no later than Friday, March 6, 2009.
Students will be given class time to work on their projects. I will let the students know adead of time what days I will allow time to work on their projects. In order for good grades on their projects they will need to come to class prepared with the things they need to get through the scientific process. If students come unprepared they will be given work to complete.
The packet of handouts your student will be coming home with will include the following documents:
1. Ideas to Get your Thinking Started
2. Steps of the Scientific Method diagram
3. Description of each Step of the Scientific Method
