Homework 3-11-10

_____  Reading:  write a summary for today's reading of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (use the summary graphic organizer which is in your portfolio)

_____  Reading:  draw and color a scene from today's reading of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (characters, setting, and plot -- do not leave any space on your blank piece of paper)

_____  Math:  workbook pgs. PW44 (#5-8), PW49 (#4-8), and PW51 (#5-9) -- all problems whose numbers are circled on these pages.

Long-Term Projects

Science:  book report # 2 (use newspaper article form) -- due March 19th.

Science:  science fair project -- due at the end of the month

Notes:

The students may wear jeans tomorrow if they bring in $2 for the collection to help the victims of the earthquake in Chile.

Parent signature page(s) must be returned tomorrow in order for your child to borrow a copy of the book, Trumpet of the Swan. 

Progress reports must be signed and returned tomorrow.

Please return parent signature notes by Friday.  The signature note that accompanied the parent letter that was sent with the work packet on Monday, March 8th, needs to be returned in order for the students to borrow the novel that we will be reading, Trumpet of the Swan. Otherwise, students will have to supply their own copy.

Homework 3-10-10

_____ Reading:  write summary for today's reading of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (on the graphic organizer provided)

_____ Reading:  draw and color the character, setting, and plot of today's reading (on the blank copy paper that was provided -- don't leave any portion of your paper blank)

_____ Math:  Graph packet last 3 pages -- line graphs (Number of Stamps in Mary's Stamp Collection and Air Temperature on Wednesday) and pie graphs (Favorite Types of Pizza)

The second science book report (on the newspaper article form) is due Friday, March 19th.  Science fair projects are due at the end of the month.

Notes:

Please return all parent signature forms.

On  Friday the students will be allowed to wear jeans if $2 is donated towards the collection to help the survivors of the Chile earthquake. The uniform top must be worn.

Homework 3-9-10

Continue working on the study island reading section, especially interpreting instructions, main idea and supporting details, context clues, fact and opinion, sequencing and ordering, and purposes for reading.

If you didn't finish the conversion problems from last night's homework posting, please have it ready for tomorrow to start our new series.  We have a winner to our first series!

Long-Term Projects

The second science book report is due March 19th and should be completed on the newspaper article form.  Late book reports will not be accepted.  Science fair projects are due at the end of the month.  Please follow the packets sent home in February about the scientific method and visit the websites that were sent home in the parent letter on December 18th (and posted on the classroom website December 19th) when assembling your project board with all the sections of the scientific method.  Data can be displayed in any of the types of graphs about which we have learned: bar, double bar, line, or pie.
