Homework 3-11-10

_____  Reading:  write a summary for today's reading of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (use the summary graphic organizer which is in your portfolio)

_____  Reading:  draw and color a scene from today's reading of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (characters, setting, and plot -- do not leave any space on your blank piece of paper).  Use the 8 1/2 X 11 blank piece of paper that was distributed today.

_____  Math:  workbook pgs. PW44 (# 5-8), PW49 (#4-8), and PW51 (# 5-9) -- all the problems whose numbers are circled on these pages.

_____   Math:  study your multiplication and division facts.

Long-Term Projects

Science:  book report # 2 (use newspaper article form) -- due March 19th.

Science:  science fair project -- due at the end of the month

Math:  multiplication and division facts -- there will be a weekly timed test until the end of the year which will be a part of the students' grade for the 3rd and 4th marking period.

Notes:

The students may wear jeans tomorrow if they bring in $2 for the collection to help the victims of the earthquake in Chile. They must wear uniform tops.

Parent signature page(s) must be returned tomorrow in order for your child to borrow a copy of the book, Trumpet of the Swan. 

Progress reports must be signed and returned tomorrow.

The next school-wide timed  multiplication test will be on Tuesday, March 16th.  Study your multiplication and division facts for this test and the weekly classroom timed tests.  Students can study using TimeZAttack, flash cards, memory games, other computer websites or programs that exist to help memorize, first, and then increase the speed of recall. 

Room 401, 403, and 404 will be going on a field trip on Wednesday, March 24th.  They will be seeing the movie Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  Room 401 will be comparing the characters, setting, theme, and events (CASTE) of the book to the movie.  A permission slip will be forthcoming.
