Students, be sure to score your homework assignments before you return to school on Tuesday, February 16th. We started these assignments together on Wednesday as part of our review for the ISAT. If you get a problem incorrect, be sure to go back and check your answer. On Tuesday, we will go over any problems you had difficulty solving. I hope you are enjoying your long weekend!
The 6th grade students have been working on many math skills. The last few weeks they have been solving equations, working with fractions and decimals, and studying statistics and graphing. Students will be assessed on statistics and graphing later this week. This week the students have also begun working with ratios, proportion, and percent.
We will continue to study decimals and fractions for the next two weeks. In addition, students will learn to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. In class, students are also solving lots of real-life word problems along with extended- response problems. A quiz is scheduled for Monday, December 14th. The quiz will include GCF, simplifying fractions, mixed numbers and improper fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, and word problems.
